Mali Sastri & Tvíund play Reykjavik, ICELAND

Posted on
Mali is excited to perform in ICELAND for the very first time. Here is the press release for the show:

Mali Sastri is a singer, songwriter, and composer based in Boston, Massachusetts. The members of Tvíund are the musicians Ólöf Þorvarðsóttir and Guðrún Edda Gunnarsdóttir.

On the program are compositions and improvisations for voices, keyboards and violin.

Mali’s work blends and juxtaposes the familiar and accessible songwriting forms heard in popular music with elements more often associated with jazz, classical, musical theater, world music, and the avant-garde.

The music of Tvíund is sincere, often dramatic and largely improvised. It is inspired by classical music, Icelandic folk music and renaissance music.

For this program, Mali will perform four unreleased original pieces for voice and keyboard, and one improvisation. The composed pieces were written between 2017 and the present. The rest of the program will be improvisations by Tvíund for violin, voice and keyboard and improvisations by all three musicians, including a piece for voice, keyboard and dancer.

Doors at 18:30 – The event starts at 19:00 – Tickets are 2.500 kr.
